OUR ZERO SUGAR FORMULA1

Science. Not sugar.

Science. Not sugar.
MYTH

Sugar accelerates hydration by activating the pump in your intestinal wall that pushes electrolytes to the bloodstream.

FACT

Sugar makes hydration less effective. As carbs are burned, they lose their osmotic benefit.

Removing sugar from the equation.

When you’re dehydrated, you lose a lot more than water. You lose electrolytes that play a vital role in helping your body properly function – which means, replenishing them is an especially important step in rehydration. So, where does sugar fit into this equation? Answer: it doesn’t.

Proven by science

Debunking the glucose myth.

One leading school of thought in hydration was that glucose (sugar) accelerates the hydration process by activating the pump in your intestinal wall that pushes electrolytes to the bloodstream.  However, NASA’s groundbreaking and extensive research proved the opposite. They found that carbohydrates – sugar in particular – make the product less effective. While sugar is faster acting, it’s shorter lived. By not consuming carbs or sugars when using Lightspeed, you’ll stay hydrated for longer.

NASA's Key Findings

During high-intensity exercise for 30 minutes, the treatment without sugar increased endurance by over 20% when compared with water or carb-containing beverages.

Keto? Paleo? Low-Carb Diet?
We've got you covered.

Electrolyte balance is one of the most critical if not the most critical components of a solid ketogenic diet. Generally, we get electrolytes from our diets, but if you’re active or on a specialized diet, such as keto, paleo, or low-carb diets, you’re eliminating processed foods, which contain high levels of sodium, and you’re likely not getting the appropriate amount of sodium to stay healthy.

Low-carb diets are also diuretic in nature, meaning, kidneys excrete electrolytes at a higher rate. These electrolytes are necessary to enable many of the body’s biological processes, including proper function of the heart, muscles, nerves, even sleep. That means it’s even more important to replace electrolytes – avoiding the dreaded keto flu, and keeping you at maximum performance.

DID YOU KNOW...

The average American consumes about 66 pounds of sugar a year 🤯  We don’t need more sugar in our diets.

Electrolytes need water to do their job, and the recommended solution for years has been sugary sports drinks. This shouldn’t be shocking, but syrupy “hydrating” concoctions aren’t very hydrating. These products don’t have nearly enough electrolytes, and far too much sugar, ultimately doing more harm than good. That’s why we created Lightspeed. Our NASA-patented formula has everything you need to be at peak performance, and nothing extra.

Day-long hydration.

Carbs are an essential part of our diets, but not all carbs are created equal. The Glycemic Index (GI) is a relative ranking that describes how fast your body converts the carbs in a food into glucose. The smaller the number, the less impact the food has on your blood sugar. Generally, 55 or less is good, 56-69 is medium, and 70+ is high. Lightspeed has a GI of zero.1 That means drinking Lightspeed won't cause a rapid spike in your blood sugar.

High GI foods

High GI foods, such as sports drinks, have a quick digestion rate and result in fluctuations in blood sugar levels (big spike and big fall). This sharp rise and fall helps illustrate the 'sugar rush'; the short lasting 'high' people may feel when they consume high GI foods.

Low GI foods

Low GI foods are released slowly for sustained energy. Additionally, they deliver more sustainable energy while helping to control appetite and keep you satisfied longer.
